A Toast to Mara

A Garden Walking Toast to Mara — Potter extraordinaire!

Her love, her vision, her tender touch permeate each vessel with spirit gifts. One can sense Mara’s mindful attention to every detail. Guided by a steady heartbeat her hands center the lump of mica clay into skyward reaching forms. Is that the faint sound of Mara soothing the first fired piece with her black heart rock–wait, now I’m hearing the hissing of the flames refining the vessel with smoke kisses. As if my osmosis, blessings from the mica clay and Mara and the universe are sipped into one’s Self.

To Mara!

Mica Clay Cup Mother . . . ahhhhh

Peony Blessings

Encircling

And onto the Swing

. . . with the final tip of the mica cup the earthchimes rang ‘good-bye’ until next time.
Thank you, Mara!

Here’s a gifted Wish that pierced my heart.

Through a swiftly moving cloud cover, only Brandon with his magical, musical timing could have captured this image. And only Brandon could speak so eloquently.

happy new yearHappy New Year to Us All.

May we be kind to TwentyTen gliding gracefully with open hearts into her newness.

“Purple Wonder” Coat #1 in Bohemia Esprit Market’s Sisterhood of the Traveling Dreamcoat

Have you ever argued with a coat, a Dreamcoat at that? Let me tell you the Dreamcoat will win!

There were lots of starts and stops—lots of knots—lots of hanging to give listening time as the ribbons and beads waited. Once a random rainbow blessed her. And still we waited. Finally it was time, as if by magic, all the small parts flowed into their simple function on the existing Dreamcoat.

The knotted ribbon yoke (ribbons reminding that life is gift, a ribbon yoke reminding the wearer that she is gift) encircles the front edges hanging freely across the back. The ribbons dance in the colors of the earth touching sunrise outer coat which mark the intersection in which we live-feet on earth, head in sky. The coat interior is a silken symbolic lining that embraces with a soul tapestry of strong woman naming her holes, her life learnings, handworking each into illuminating qualities that glisten through her being echoing onto her surface. I chose not to bind the sides allowing the tender lining to peep through because Dreamcoat #1 sings freedom. From the six points of the draping hemline hang freeform quartz beads with tiny crystal and copper beads holding space for life’s dualities-those light and dark spots that cause one to stretch one’s being. It’s said that quartz has the ability to bring stars to earth.

And now I understand why Nietzsche’s words played a mantra in my head. “One must have chaos in one’s self in order to give birth to a dancing star.” Ah, freedom!
